Stop the blight is a tower defense that bucks the usual trends of pre-planned paths and tower locations by giving you big destructible map to drop your Core on. You’ll drop your towers where you please, including right behind the enemy portals if you please. The enemy portals do spread the blight threatening the realm though, so your towers won’t last too long.

However in my playthrough, two basic towers were enough to take out one portal, though this reduces the number of enemies you kill, and your currency earned. Mind you, in the next fest build I played, I didn’t really feel the need past the first few levels to grind that hard and had a full roster of spells earned. Not that I knew what most of them did before I picked them, as tooltips were vague or non-existent iirc. Something that frustrates me in most of these games where strategy is key…but is often an afterthought. I was also disappointed that I couldn’t build walls up to the edge of the map, leaving a gap in my defenses.

In it’s early version, it’s hard to tell how big having the different elemental cores or the roguelite progression is going to playout. I would hope that the blight ticking damage gets increased at some point, as destroying portals so easily feels too easy. I think with the extra time till it releases and some polish, it’s got potential. Stop the Blight doesn’t have any sort of release date as of time of writing, but the demo is still up to try.
