NekoKami is set in the far flung future, where humans have effectively been wiped out. Cats have the rule of the universe, some ascended as godlike beings, others, like yourself, are just worldbuilders.

Gameplay has you pulling tiles out of the deck of sorts you’re given and placing them down to create a map. You get bonuses to an extent for placing certain edges together, growing a small thicket into a full forest if you have enough trees together, or a mountain range with enough hills. Each planet has it’s own goals, and usually it’s own challenges.

Later, you get into one of the other goals of the NekoKami, bringing humans back. While before you had to grow nature, now you have to balance the planets natural aspects with creating small towns and connecting them with roads. I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but us humans don’t always get along with nature so well. Maybe that’s why we went extinct.

The game launched in early access earlier this year at a fairly bargain price of 10.99, and it seems the demo may still be available to give it a try.
