Island Dwellers has you with a small group of people on an island slowly being lost to the ocean. You have to manage making sure you have enough food, wood, and stone to build and grow your tribe. Your island dwellers age as well, with their stats and roles changing as they go from baby to elder, making sure you can’t stay complacent with who you have.
As far as the demo goes, there isn’t any combat you have to deal with, your only foe is the environment. Your goal is to research and build ships to get off and onwards to a new home. The demo will end as you sail off for the first time, but the game and store page hints at win conditions that come up against the gods.
Of the 4x games I played for the October ’24, I gotta say I enjoyed Island Dwellers the most. It probably plays the most like a traditional, despite not fighting against other tribes, and being able to move your buildings as you look to escape the encroaching shoreline. It doesn’t have release date yet, but you can still grab the demo on the Steam page.
