The demo for Code Racer has you adding in simple commands via buttons to control cars down a course. You set the amount of time the command runs and the strength and can fire off a test run. Each course has objectives, with a handful of “guide car to goal and stay there for three seconds”, but also one where you’re hitting a giant soccer ball into a net, as well as intercepting another car to wreck it.
Each course gives stars based on # of commands used, time spent, and completion. Stars will help earn new vehicles, and while not every model has different attributes, they’ll have different cosmetic appearances. The demo gives you a chance to see a number of maps to challenge and earn the first new vehicle.
The full version promises over 100 maps and daily challenges. It’s already available for 11.99. If you’re interested in physics puzzlers, it’s worth a look. It’s also likely to be a delight for kids looking for fun trying to learn the basics of very simple programming here (since it’s not real code) or at least…blow up some cars trying.
