This is a blog formed out of the silly thought I had to Tweet about demos I played from Next Fest a few years back, formed mostly out of Twitter’s continue spiral into the drain and for me to have a few more characters to work with, compared to just posting the same on Bluesky, which I did at least try first.

I’m an older dude, who’s been playing games for over 35 years now, is currently struggling to get into the industry himself at the worst possible time, and a broad taste in what I’d play. I’m not a big PvP player, especially as I get older, but I’ll play most anything. I do tend to lean towards farming sims, city/colony builders, and VN’s that I never seem to find the time to actually play, though there are no shortage of games that catch my interest by virtue of just being exciting.

I normally browse the full Next Fest list (which for June 2024 was 1700+ titles) on day one to look for what to add (which has been around 90 games at times), as well as taking friend suggestions for anything I might have missed in my scroll. Sometimes I try to record gameplay, and I’d like to get more edited and up on Youtube, or Streamed, but both take additional time that doesn’t always fit trying to get through 90 games in a handful of days. Not that everything HAS to be played in that time, you never know what demos will stay after the fest and what will get pulled asap.
