Another game in the same action roguelike/bullet-hell, auto-shooter Vampire Survivor-style games, Skewer of Heroes goes for a difference in asking you to manage up to four heroes at once.

Every hero has an attack type, be it ranged or summon or thrust or whatever. Each hero also has a target you can upgrade with as part of the roguelite progression that it synergizes with, and then there are a ton of different stats to affect with the numerous power-ups you get on leveling up. You do start off with just one lowly hero, killing slimes, and based on # of kills, you unlock adding more, up to the max of four, though you can swap to new heroes if you had a less than ideal pick prior, or, had a hero die.

I killed an afternoon in runs, trying to work out what worked for me, seeing what some heroes are like. I was streaming at a time and a friend was going to check it out later based on it, which means the games doing something right. Honestly, my only gripe is that EVERY enemy is a slime, I’d like more variety, even if all the slimes do different things. It is the pettiest and smallest of complaints.

Skewer of Heroes doesn’t have a release date as of yet, and it’s demo is up as part of February 2025’s Next Fest.
