Dimensionals starts off with a beautiful animated cutscene, and that flows into the graphics of the game itself. The whole game is beautifully done in their bright comic cartoony style. It’s mechanically sound in it’s deckbuilder element, which is team-based. You’ve only got a limited cast to pull from in the demo, taking you through the tutorial, but more in the full version and a plan for post-release/Early Access content that will also add additional heroes and story.

Gameplay is fairly standard roguelike deckbuilder, picking paths and upgrades, culminating in bosses. You have the team aspect, where you’re dividing your resources among three heroes instead of one, but, beyond that, any differences are in being able to synergize between the heroes instead of focusing on one lean deck as you normally would in StS. The tutorial/demo run was short enough I’m not sure you’d see a lot of bloat. I think anyone who’s experienced in the genre knows not to take every card now anyway.

The game released in Early Access in November and has seen balance passes since, and continues to seem like a proper polished experience, with continued updates. The game has just under 400 reviews and a mostly positive rating, showing . At 19.99 usd, it’s competitive with other solid indie titles like Wildfrost and Cobalt core, and just under titles like Slay the Spire and Monster Train. I really suggest deckbuilder fans to give it a shot, it’s a shame on me for not getting this out before the winter sale and giving whoever may read this a chance to pick it up at 30% off.
